Global Lounge Booking Form

HKU Global Lounge Terms of Use & Rules for Booking Space

  1. Hirer must be a student or staff of HKU who is affiliated to an official student association/society or department/faculty in HKU. He/she should adhere at all times to the rules below and must further comply with instructions given by the Global Lounge Management Team.
  2. All persons using the Global Lounge are required to abide by the University of Hong Kong rules and regulations.
  3. The Global Lounge is primarily for the use of University functions that are of an academic, international or cultural nature and relevant to student and staff activities.
  4. The Global Lounge Opening Hours are:
      Monday – Friday           8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
      Saturday                          8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
      Closed on Sundays, University and Public Holidays

  5. The maximum booking period of any single booking will be 5 consecutive days.
  6. Cancellation of a booking must be made to the Global Lounge not later than 5 working days before the function. Otherwise, a cancellation fee of $100 will be charged.
  7. Hirer must demonstrate that attendance at the function will be sufficient to justify the use of the Lounge and when the event takes place in the central area of the Global Lounge, unless otherwise specified in the booking confirmation, other areas of the space must not be disrupted. Office and Patio area will not be included in all cases.
  8. Publicity/decorative materials are not allowed on all walls and curtains but may be posted in designated areas in the Lounge (i.e. entrance glass door). Hirers are required to remove all the materials immediately after the function.
  9. Should catering services be required, only prepared food, light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed to be served in the Lounge. No cooking and open fire for food reheating is allowed in the Lounge. Hirers will also be held responsible should there be any incidents of illness arising from the food served.
  10. Permission to have alcoholic drinks within any function at the Global Lounge must be obtained in advance.
  11. Hirers are responsible for any loss of or damage to the furniture, fabrics and equipment inside the Lounge.
  12. Hirer must leave the areas they booked in the same condition in which they found them, including the placement of furniture and to remove from the venue all goods, property or material brought in.
  13. Hirer is required to clean the place, clear the rubbish immediately after use and vacate the premises within the time specified on the booking confirmation. Failure to do this may result in a loss of booking privileges.
  14. If the hirer fails to observe any of the above conditions, the Global Lounge Management Team reserves the right to reject future application and charge the hirer for any damages incurred.
